Now in its eighth year, the Hampshire Hilly Hundred is one of the older UK cyclosportives. It remains an event organised by cyclists for cyclists, pure and simple. The course has been refined over consecutive seasons and offers the super challenging HHH route (approx 100 miles), and the still testing HHMIDI (approx 78 miles). The well signed and equally well thought-out course follows roads with amazingly little traffic and leads riders through some superb Hampshire countryside that is at its very best in early May.
As you'd expect from its name, there are plenty of hills facing the riders on the HHH but it's not relentless - there are stretches where you can recover and roll a bigger gear, and there are no "cliff face" climbs that would have some riders conceding and walking up. But beware, the HHH imposes more total metres of ascent/descent than most UK sportives, and if you haven't done the big training miles it will find you out!
We are delighted to be returning once more to Sparsholt College, near Winchester, on SUNDAY 12 MAY 2013, with its excellent facilities for our event headquarters, including on-site parking very close to the Start/Finish, hot refreshments, lounge area, showers and changing rooms. We provide Third Party event insurance, first-aid and ambulance cover, full route signage, printed route directions, feed stations, and all the usual sportive support.
